A recent survey reveals that 17% of Brazilian voters consider ending the 6x1 workweek their top priority for the new government term. The measure already faces legal challenges at the Supreme Federal Court from employers and a conciliation hearing is scheduled for the 10th.
Beyond work schedules, the priority agenda includes zero taxes on basic food staples for 16% of respondents and increasing the minimum wage for 11%. The current administration faces tight approval ratings with 48% positive reviews versus 44% disapproval.
The economy stands out as the primary source of public anxiety as 27% of respondents cite it as their biggest concern. Feelings of uncertainty regarding the country's future affect 48% of Brazilians while 44% remain optimistic about the coming steps.
Expectations for the economy over the next 12 months are split as 39% of respondents believe in improvement and the same percentage predicts a downturn. The relationship between the Executive branch and Congress is also viewed with caution since 70% of voters expect an increase in political conflict during the new government cycle.
