Most institutions expect the rate to hold at 13.75% due to a worsening economic outlook and persistent inflationary pressure.

The Monetary Policy Committee decides the future of the Selic rate this Wednesday. The prevailing expectation among financial institutions is a pause in the cutting cycle, keeping the rate at 13.75% per year.

The core debate centers on currency devaluation and rising risk premiums. The Central Bank faces the challenge of calibrating monetary policy as inflation expectations exceed previous targets for 2028.

Market simulations show inflation projections near 3.5% for the second quarter of 2028. This calculation accounts for variables such as the dollar and oil prices, which exert pressure on consumer price indices.

On the external front, the Democratic victory in the United States Congress brought relief to global markets. Reduced uncertainty regarding American public spending and falling oil prices helped ease pressure on Brazilian future interest rates.

Tesouro Direto also reflects this correction in rates. Bonds such as the IPCA+ 2032 fell below the 8% real interest mark, following the improved mood among international investors.
