UK police have rearrested two men on suspicion of collaborating with Iranian intelligence. The suspects are 24 and 25 years old and were arrested under the British National Security Act. One of the men holds dual British and Iranian citizenship.
The case involves an incident recorded in September at the RAF Fairford airbase. The site, located in western England, has been used to launch strikes against Iran during this year's conflict. Police declared a major incident in the area following reports of suspicious vehicles circling near the military installation.
The two men had previously been detained between late September and early October. They were released on bail while authorities conducted their investigation. The head of the UK counter-terrorism department described the process as complex and stated there is evidence of Iranian state involvement.
Authorities continue to analyze the extent of foreign participation and the intentions behind the suspicious activity. Local residents had to leave their homes during the police operation, which received support from the army. The investigation remains active and ongoing to clarify all details of the plot against the airbase.
