October data shows validators increased their network weight while total ETH volume in consensus shrank.

The Ethereum ecosystem showed a divergent trend between active staking and total consensus balances during October. Between October 1 and 30, the network added approximately 361,000 ETH to the effective stake of validators.

Simultaneously, the total volume of assets held in the consensus layer recorded a drop of roughly 80,000 ETH. The survey shows that withdrawals exceeded deposits by about 111,000 ETH during the same period.

Active staking represents the effective balance of validators participating directly in network security. This metric rose from 35.82% to 36.09% of the total ETH supply throughout the analyzed month.

On the other hand, the broader consensus metric, which includes queued deposits and excess balances, showed a reduction. The total ETH supply tracked by the data provider grew by about 86,000 units, which rules out supply scarcity as the cause for the increase in active participation.

The dynamic suggests that more assets were migrated to the network security function while the total balance outside this specific group decreased. The global crypto market may interpret this shift as a change in available liquidity and validator behavior.
