Omen AI Acquires Aquatic Labs for $16 Million to Optimize Cooling
Startup merger aims to cut water usage in AI data centers using real-time monitoring technology.
Omen AI has acquired Aquatic Labs in a deal valued at $16 million. The transaction involves a mix of cash and stock between the two companies specializing in cooling technologies for computing infrastructure.
The data center industry consumes between 17 and 19 billion gallons of water annually to keep chips cool. Demand for water resources is expected to triple over the next five years as the scale of artificial intelligence grows.
Currently, verifying the quality of cooling fluids relies on external laboratory tests that take days to complete. Omen AI develops real-time sensors to detect valve failures and bacterial growth that blocks water flow.
Aquatic Labs contributes technology to measure the alkalinity of fluids. Combining these two fronts allows for the creation of a single sensor capable of providing a complete analysis of the cooling system.
The new integrated sensor is expected to reach the market early next year. The company aims to monitor systems supporting up to 1 gigawatt of processing capacity by the end of 2027.
