Republicans and Democrats plan tighter chip export controls and probes into the company's activities in China.

Chipmaker Nvidia may face a more hostile political environment in Washington following the election cycle. Despite a history of dialogue between CEO Jensen Huang and President Donald Trump, the company is encountering mounting pressure from both sides of the American political spectrum.

Republicans plan to implement stricter rules for controlling the export of technology components. Three members of the House of Representatives have requested that Huang participate in a briefing regarding potential contacts with Chinese intelligence agents.

On the Democratic side, Senator Elizabeth Warren is seeking to summon the executive to testify before Congress. The focus of the questioning involves the company's chip sales to the Chinese market and other pending regulatory issues.

Historically, Jensen Huang served on the council of science and technology advisors during the Trump administration. The executive has previously held direct meetings with the president to address restrictions imposed on Nvidia products abroad.

Increased oversight of the semiconductor supply chain could raise operating costs and limit the expansion of technology firms in strategic global markets.
