The attacker responsible for exploiting the Cysic bridge transferred $744,000 in Ether and BNB to Tornado Cash. The move occurred last Friday after the foundation proposed a 10% reward for the recovery of the assets.
The attack took place the previous Saturday through a vulnerability in the bridge. The hacker managed to mint 10 million CYS tokens on the BNB Smart Chain. Cysic suspended bridge operations and blocked the attacker's address to prevent further actions.
The foundation successfully froze about 2.8 million of the tokens minted improperly during the incident. Cysic stated that the mainnet and assets held in user wallets remain secure and unharmed.
The bounty offer aimed for the return of 275.872 ETH, an amount equivalent to 90% of the identified Ether funds. The use of Tornado Cash makes tracking the resources difficult due to the mixing of deposits from various addresses.
Monitoring data shows that the attacker's wallet held only $45 in ETH after the transfers. The foundation did not respond to requests for comment regarding the progress of recovery efforts.
