Visa and Mastercard announced new commercial funding routes based on stablecoins on October 15. The move allows companies to use USDC to execute international payments with greater agility.
Visa implemented the functionality through the Inyo Global platform. The system allows eligible Visa Direct clients to use USDC to pre-fund cross-border transfers in real time. The solution serves money transmitters and financial institutions.
Mastercard adopted a similar approach by connecting its network to the BVNK infrastructure. The service enables companies to use stablecoin balances to make payments that reach recipients' bank accounts in local currencies.
These integrations separate the choice of funding source from the final receipt method. The recipient does not need to interact directly with digital assets because the system manages the conversion and conventional delivery via bank.
Companies such as Nuvei and Marqeta are among the first to adopt these new payment capabilities. The use of stablecoins aims to offer an alternative to the traditional processing times of the global financial system.
