The probe into alleged mortgage irregularities by the Fed governor has been rescheduled for December 14.

A White House committee has postponed the hearing for Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook that was scheduled for this Thursday. The new date for the meeting is December 14. This decision followed a request from the governor herself.

The group is investigating allegations that Cook made false statements on mortgage documents. President Donald Trump is seeking to determine if these accusations justify her removal from office. Cook's defense team is challenging the committee's impartiality and the validity of the proceedings.

Lisa Cook argues that the mortgage accusations are a pretext. According to the governor, the attempt to dismiss her is linked to her resistance against presidential demands to lower interest rates. Cook's attorney stated that she has official commitments at monetary policy meetings in Europe.

President Trump attempted to fire the governor in August 2025 but the Supreme Court temporarily blocked the action. The court required adherence to due process for any removal attempt. The current committee is composed of administration officials including Kevin Hassett and Andrea Lucas.

Cook's tenure on the Fed board remains protected by a court order while the legal process continues. The Supreme Court has not yet determined if the president has the definitive authority to fire a member of the U.S. central bank board.
