BTG economist notes that a lack of clarity on spending controls puts pressure on the dollar, the stock market, and the interest rate curve.

The financial instability observed following the election reflects a market repositioning. Mansueto Almeida, chief economist at BTG, states that the lack of a defined fiscal plan from the government is the biggest obstacle for the Brazilian economy at the moment.

The absence of a clear strategy to curb the growth of public spending creates uncertainties that directly impact assets. The expert argues that presenting a consistent plan with political support would be enough to improve the business environment in the country.

Rising public spending puts pressure on inflation and hinders the continuation of the Central Bank's interest rate cut cycle. The current scenario, worsened by oil prices and the strengthening of the dollar, raises inflation projections for the coming years.

Brazil maintains solid fundamentals, such as the strong performance of the agricultural sector and its position as a net oil exporter. However, controlling the rise in expenses is seen as an essential condition to reduce pressure on indebted families and companies.

The financial market remains attentive to the implementation of measures the government intends to adopt to balance the books. The credibility of these actions will be tested over time as fiscal results are released.
