The European-focused initiative is backed by Abu Dhabi's sovereign wealth fund and major global financial institutions.

Apollo Global Management has launched a private credit platform in Europe with a lending capacity exceeding 10 billion euros. The project is financially supported by the Abu Dhabi Investment Council and several prominent strategic investors.

The new structure, named European Credit Company, will focus on high-performance credit. Its operations span corporate sectors and real assets such as infrastructure and real estate. Executive leadership for the business is held by Giacomo Petrobelli and Christian Meissner.

The investment from Abu Dhabi follows Apollo's acquisition of an equity stake in Mubadala Capital. Other strategic partners include the insurance group Athora and the Japanese bank Norinchukin. Standard Chartered and Aranda Principal Strategies are also part of the investor consortium.

The strategy aims to meet financing demands for energy transition and defense projects. The firm intends to capture long-term growth opportunities across the European continent. The goal is to establish a local platform providing flexible solutions for various types of credit.

The strengthening of global private credit may increase liquidity in strategic sectors and reduce reliance on traditional banks. This trend tends to raise risk appetite for fixed-income assets and impact dollar volatility against other currencies.
