Airbnb Raises Annual Revenue Forecast Amid Resilient Travel Demand
Platform projects high-teen growth and announces a $12 billion share buyback program
Airbnb has revised its 2026 revenue growth forecast upward. The company now expects growth in the high teens as demand for leisure and corporate travel remains steady.
Nights and experiences booked reached 155 million in the third quarter. This result represents a 16% increase compared to the same period last year. Performance was driven by bookings in North America and the EMEA region.
The company also authorized a new $12 billion share repurchase program for its Class A common stock. Chief Financial Officer Ellie Mertz stated that the company is monitoring geopolitical conflicts but does not expect significant impacts on immediate results.
In the technology sector, Airbnb sold intellectual property rights to an artificial intelligence laboratory for $7.1 million. The company is developing its own agent to assist with travel planning, with a launch scheduled for 2027.
Operational efficiency improved through the automation of customer service. The cost per booking fell by more than 17% during the quarter as 40% of requests were resolved without human intervention.
