Negotiation attempts between the United States and Iran face deep structural obstacles. Recent diplomatic initiatives, including a memorandum signed in Islamabad on June 18, failed shortly after being formalized.

The stalemate stems from psychological syndromes rooted in the political memory of both countries. Washington carries the trauma of the 1979 siege of its embassy in Tehran. This event has shaped American perceptions regarding security and the Iranian government's stance over the decades.

Tehran maintains a distrust based on historical hostility and the United States' withdrawal from the nuclear deal in 2018. The Iranian government holds the view that Washington does not accept the country's political independence. This perception dates back to the overthrow of Mohammad Mosaddegh's government in 1953 following the nationalization of the oil industry.

The conflict of interests and lack of mutual trust prevent significant progress at any negotiating table. The repetition of these historical patterns makes crisis resolution a constant challenge for global diplomacy. The current scenario reflects decades of tensions that are not limited to the technical terms of treaties.

The persistence of this geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East tends to increase risk aversion in global markets and may heighten volatility for the dollar and Bitcoin.
