UK Defense Secretary Wes Streeting stated that the nation must prepare for threats of state-sponsored terrorism. The warning focuses on risks of sabotage against essential infrastructure and daily operations.

Streeting highlighted that cyberattacks could paralyze payment systems used by businesses or disrupt global supply chains. The British government aims to foster a national conversation on resilience against hybrid risks that do not constitute open warfare.

The announcement took place during the opening of a tank gun factory in Telford. The facility belongs to the German company Rheinmetall and is part of the European rearmament effort amid current military tensions.

Recent incidents in Europe, such as explosions at defense facilities and drones found at airports, reinforce the authorities' concerns. The British government has already advised citizens to consider stockpiling food and creating contingency plans for national emergencies.

The UK budget plan includes raising military spending to 3.5% of GDP next year. The measure aims to strengthen national defense in the face of growing geopolitical instability.
