Representatives from the Mecca Defense Alliance are meeting in Tehran this Monday. The gathering involves high-ranking officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan in an unprecedented diplomatic effort.
The Iranian delegation will be led by Mohsen Rezaei. The group aims to discuss paths toward regional security and stability among the countries involved in the current crisis.
This is the first high-level contact since Houthi rebels intensified attacks against Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed its participation as part of an ongoing mediation strategy.
Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin and Pakistani military commander Asim Munir confirmed their attendance. The discussions aim to promote diplomatic solutions and reduce the impact of recent armed conflicts in the region.
The diplomatic move follows the interception of Saudi missiles and drones last Sunday. The Iranian government emphasized that the meeting focuses on the role of alliance countries in maintaining local order.
