Humanitarian Corridor Allows Civilian Evacuation in Oleshky
Russian-occupied city in Kherson sees temporary ceasefire for the removal of hundreds of residents amid total destruction

An evacuation operation is underway in the city of Oleshky, located in the Kherson region. The process was made possible by a temporary ceasefire that allowed for the demining of exit routes from the area occupied by Russian forces.
A convoy of 25 buses was provided to transport up to 750 people. The timeframe for residents to leave was limited to a four-hour window. The logistics plan includes the use of ambulances to assist citizens with limited mobility.
The route for the evacuees passes through occupied territory to the Russian city of Anapa. From there, civilians will travel by plane to Gomel, Belarus, before crossing the border toward the Chernihiv region in Ukraine. Some residents chose to remain in the area despite the lack of water, electricity, and gas.
Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian human rights ombudsman, visited the city alongside his Russian counterpart, Yana Lantratova. The cooperation between both sides was described as a necessary measure to preserve lives in an area marked by severe devastation.
The prolonged conflict in the Kherson region maintains geopolitical instability in Eastern Europe. Military tensions in occupied zones increase the perception of global risk and may generate volatility in reserve assets and hard currencies due to uncertainty regarding energy supplies and regional logistics.
