Hebron Military Siege Reaches Ten Days With Heavy Economic Losses
Israeli operations in the West Bank cause over 3.8 million dollars in losses and force the closure of hundreds of local businesses.
Israeli security forces are maintaining a blockade on the city of Hebron for the tenth consecutive day. The measure follows an attack on October 23 that resulted in the deaths of two Israeli soldiers. Local government officials warn of a potential expansion of military operations in the region.
The financial impact on Hebron's economy exceeds 3.8 million dollars. Mayor Yousef al-Jabari stated that the forced closure of 327 businesses and damage to infrastructure have paralyzed essential activities. Approximately 40 percent of the Palestinian economy depends on operations conducted in this city.
More than 3,300 people have been displaced or directly affected by the demolition of 15 homes and structures. The educational system has also been impacted, leaving 80,000 students without access to schools during the siege. Reports show that the detention of civilians and teachers continues across various areas of the West Bank.
Data from international agencies point to rising tensions throughout the occupied region. In October, nearly 400 attacks involving settlers against Palestinian communities were recorded. This figure represents the highest monthly volume of incidents since systematic monitoring began in 2006.
Geopolitical instability in the Middle East increases risk aversion in global markets and may pressure the dollar as a reserve asset. The rise in conflicts within strategic zones tends to amplify volatility for risk assets, including Bitcoin, during times of political uncertainty.
