A group of Democratic representatives from Silicon Valley sent a letter to the White House demanding an investigation into recent Starlink service disruptions in Ukraine. The document was led by Representatives Sam Liccardo, Ro Khanna, and Jimmy Panetta.
The inquiry focuses on the military version of the service known as Starshield. Ukrainian officials reported that the restrictions hampered drone operations and the ability to intercept Russian attacks on the front lines.
Lawmakers are seeking to understand who ordered the block on intelligence and military support services. The investigation aims to clarify whether the decision came from Elon Musk or if there was direct influence from the United States government.
The group stated that if they win control of the House in the next elections, scrutiny of Musk's federal contracts will be a priority. They intend to verify if the companies are fulfilling contractual obligations and if there are safeguards against the political use of public resources.
The White House did not provide additional details on the case. President Donald Trump previously mentioned that the service was restored without confirming if there was direct contact with the businessman to reverse the previously imposed limitations.
