The Ethereum market saw significant movement on October 23. Approximately 169,770 units of the cryptocurrency were withdrawn from centralized exchanges in a single day. This total volume is worth about 407 million dollars based on a reference price of 2,400 dollars.
This volume marks the largest net outflow from these platforms in over four months. The last time a larger movement occurred was on June 5. On that occasion, about 223,800 units of Ethereum left exchanges in a trend that preceded a local buying opportunity.
This scenario unfolds alongside poor performance from Ethereum exchange-traded funds in the United States. Between October 1 and October 22, these financial products accumulated more than 1 billion dollars in net outflows. Negative flows were recorded in 14 of the 16 trading sessions during that period.
Assets leaving exchanges may be moved to self-custody or staking protocols. The final destination and the owners' motivations remain unknown. Monitoring these balances helps measure the supply of coins available for immediate sale in centralized environments.
Global financial markets are watching these figures during a period of risk aversion. Volatility in tech markets impacts the perception of digital assets. Ethereum's behavior is now being analyzed through the lens of large investor positioning and institutional flow dynamics.
