Institutional platform now uses derivatives data to maintain real-time tokenized stock valuations.

The institutional lending platform Aave Horizon has adopted a new pricing service from Chainlink. This tool allows tokenized stocks to receive value updates even when traditional stock exchanges are closed.

The system uses data from perpetual futures markets to generate benchmarks during weekends and off-market hours. The technology filters outdated inputs and combines different trading sessions into a continuous price series.

For platform users, this means that the valuation of stock-based collateral now reflects derivative movements outside of business hours. The change aims to provide a more accurate view of the health of assets held as collateral.

The mechanism can reduce the support value of a loan before markets reopen. If the price drops, a position might hit its liquidation threshold during the weekend, accelerating a process that previously waited for the market to open.

Integrating continuous pricing increases transparency regarding the volatility of tokenized assets, which may raise the risk of automatic liquidations during periods of low global liquidity.
