Qubic Updates Recovery Rules for Vulnerable Wallets
Protocol now requires additional proof of ownership even for secure assets in compromised addresses
Security Editor: Fabricio Marcilio 1 min read
The Qubic network has implemented new security guidelines following the identification of wallets created with weak keys. The protocol now requires users to provide evidence of ownership beyond the standard digital signature to regain access to their assets.
These changes affect addresses listed as vulnerable even in cases where no funds have been withdrawn by third parties. Update v1.308.2 allows for the freezing of identities, the cancellation of pending orders on the QX market, and the movement of balances to new secure destinations.
The recovery process requires the holder to provide records of exchange withdrawals, funding histories, or signatures from unaffected wallets. Core developers analyze the submitted evidence before the network quorum validates the transfer of resources.
The intervention system covers both drained assets and available balances in at-risk addresses. The network has set a deadline of May 1, 2027, for the close of the recovery request window.
After approval, the funds remain visible for seven days before final release. Disputes between conflicting claims keep the funds locked until a definitive resolution by the governance mechanism.
