The Claude artificial intelligence has successfully reconstructed the public seed for the P-256 cryptographic curve. The process utilized a timestamp from August 16, 1997, to reproduce the curve's constant value. P-256 is a NIST standard widely used for passkey signatures on modern devices.

This discovery provides new evidence regarding the origin of the curve, which historically sparked suspicion because it was provided by the United States National Security Agency. The published recipe uses the lrand48 generator with the specific timestamp to arrive at the official value. The result makes the existence of intentional flaws or backdoors in the code structure less likely.

The topic is relevant to the Ethereum ecosystem through the EIP-7951 proposal. This standard allows for signature verification using the P-256 curve in wallets that utilize hardware such as Apple Secure Enclave or Android Keystore. The reconstructed public seed is a design element and does not interfere with users' private signing credentials.

The analysis reinforces the transparency of cryptographic parameters adopted in authentication standards. Although the seed has been replicated, the exact criteria for selecting this specific curve remain without a definitive explanation. No new vulnerabilities or security risks resulting from this technical reconstruction were identified.

Clarifying the origin of cryptographic standards reduces the perception of systemic risk in authentication technologies. This may foster institutional trust in digital wallet infrastructure.
