Binance is implementing a new pricing system for bStock collateral starting October 24. This adjustment will occur continuously even when United States stock exchanges are closed. The measure directly impacts Cross Margin accounts and Portfolio Margin products.

The collateral index will now account for trading prices within the Binance platform during weekends and holidays. When external market data is unavailable, the system will use an exponentially weighted moving average. This calculation aims to smooth out sudden fluctuations in the order book.

The change may reduce the safety margin for accounts using these assets as collateral. With a potential drop in collateral value, the distance to the liquidation threshold could shrink during periods of traditional market inactivity. The exchange will apply a movement limit to prevent excessive swings in the index.

The transition process between off-hours mode and normal market operations will be gradual. Binance notes that margin levels and the unified maintenance index may undergo automatic adjustments outside of business hours. Users should monitor the health of their positions to avoid the risk of unexpected liquidation.
