Siege in Taiz Threatens Hospital Collapse in Yemen
Fuel and medical supply shortages put hundreds of kidney patients at risk in the besieged city

The Republican Hospital in Taiz faces an imminent collapse due to the siege imposed by Houthi forces. The dialysis unit has reduced patient treatment time from four hours to just two and a half hours. This measure aims to extend the center's operations in the face of a critical shortage of diesel and specialized medical solutions.
The center's director, Essam Mahyoub Dahan, stated that a total shutdown could occur within a few days. The blockade of access routes has prevented the arrival of essential supplies that were scheduled for delivery by the Ministry of Health earlier this month. The situation is worsened by constant interruptions in the supply of oxygen and basic medications.
The crisis directly affects hundreds of people who rely on the treatment to survive. Data from the local health office shows that more than one thousand patients with kidney failure are in danger in the region. The siege, which began in the first week of October following military advances, has isolated the city and strangled healthcare logistics.
International humanitarian organizations warn of the worsening fragility of the Yemeni healthcare system. The blocking of vital roads prevents the movement of basic resources needed to maintain hospital services. The interruption of care puts the lives of patients at risk as they depend on daily dialysis sessions to filter toxins from their blood.
Geopolitical instability in Yemen increases risk aversion in global markets by raising uncertainty about trade routes and supply chains. Conflicts in strategic regions often pressure the dollar as a store of value and influence the volatility of digital assets like Bitcoin.
